Evening excursion: learn all about bats in Bakkeveen

During the Night of the Bat on Saturday evening, August 30, we invite you to a special excursion in and around Bakkeveen. Guided by experts, you will discover which bat species live here and why they are so important for our nature.

We will gather at 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot at De Slotplaats. Around 8:40 p.m., as dusk begins to fall, we will leave in the direction of the forest behind De Slotplaats. There we will look for the ruddy bat, which likes to live in tree holes. Afterwards we will walk through a part of the village, where we will try to spot building-dwelling species, such as the common dwarf bat, the long-eared bat or even the rarer lake bat.

During the excursion rangers from Natuurmonumenten and ecologists from a research agency will tell you more about bats and the results of recent research in our villages. You can read more about this on the webpage Nature-friendly insulation: what is it and what should you pay attention to? | Municipality of Opsterland.

The excursion is suitable for young and old.

The maximum number of participants has now been reached. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to register for the excursion.
