Sale of public green space and residual land
Public space is for public facilities that all residents (can) use, e.g. roads/streets, roadsides and public green spaces. Public green spaces are part of the public space and are owned by the municipality. Public green space, which has a limited function for public space and is directly adjacent to a residential plot, may be considered for sale to the owner(s) of that plot.

Requirements
You want to buy a strip of public green space?
Is there a strip of public green adjacent to your plot and would you like to use it as a garden? Purchase could be possible, subject to approval by the Municipal Executive. The selling price of public green space is €75.00 per m² cost-to-buyer (price level 2019). The sales prices are set by the Municipal Executive.
You already have a strip of public green space in use?
Sometimes strips of public green space are added to the garden of your adjacent (residential) plot. Sometimes agreements have been made with the municipality. In other cases we would like to arrange this officially. You can expect a message from us about this or you can still report it to us. If you are not interested in purchasing municipal land, you must return the land to the municipality. The land must be handed over clean and cleared (without structures, paving, plants and the like). We will then reinstate the land as public space.
Didam
In connection with the Supreme Court ruling on November 26, 2021, called the Didam ruling, from May 17, 2022, new building lots for housing, business lots and sale/rental/lease of land will be handled through a new procedure. After the public disclosure on the municipal page of the Sa! and on the municipal website of the aforementioned lots, if interest is expressed by several parties, a drawing of lots through an authorized notary will take place. The Requirements of the procedure can be found on the website of the Opsterland Municipality (reference Izaak 0086121196).
All publications about new construction lots and land sales/leases/leases can be accessed through our website and the local weekly newspaper the Sa!
