Policy Advisor for Prevention and Social Services
HBO I Level 10 I One-year contract with the possibility of a permanent position I 28 to 32 hours
Your day begins with a glance at your calendar. In Beetsterzwaag, you join the community development worker. Together, you discuss current issues: a community center that could be better utilized, volunteers who need support, and residents who are at risk of falling behind. You explore what is needed to strengthen these efforts or stay ahead of the curve. Later, you consult with colleagues about the prevention agenda and how ongoing initiatives can be better aligned. You switch between conversations, coordination, and developing ideas. You connect people and ensure that plans actually take root in the villages. At the end of the day, you see that progress has been made and you know what the next step is. That’s rewarding: working together toward an Opsterland where people look out for one another and support is close at hand.
What will you do?
As a Prevention Agenda and Social Foundation Advisor, you’ll work in a municipality where people connect with one another, support each other, and are able to participate. You focus on everything that strengthens residents’ daily lives: from gatherings in villages and neighborhoods to the involvement of volunteers, informal caregivers, and community-based social services. You work to strengthen communities and prevent problems, including through the Prevention Agenda and themes such as mental health and positive health. In this way, you contribute to a strong social foundation—the bedrock on which residents can rely.
You operate at the intersection of policy and practice, developing and coordinating plans and policies for community-based social services and prevention. You connect residents, professionals, and partners, strengthen networks, and ensure that initiatives such as village community centers and social work align effectively with local needs. You translate objectives into concrete actions and a multi-year implementation plan, while keeping in mind the differences between villages. You work based on the Hert foar Opsterland policy document and the prevention agenda, ensuring coherence, progress, and visible results.
